Help a Friend - Coney Island Collection
All proceeds from the Coney Island Collection will go straight to Ash who has shared her story below!
Alternatively her GoFundMe is linked below for any donations!
Hello! My name is Ash and in February of 2020 I was diagnosed with a rare digestive disorder called gastroparesis. While my symptoms were able to be managed with a change of diet for quite some time, I unfortunately had to have a gastric pacemaker implanted in March of this year after becoming severely malnourished. Luckily it was able to help with symptoms almost immediately, I was even able to gain 7 pounds for the first time in almost two years! Unfortunately, my body started to require more and more power from the pacemaker, and after a couple of months I had started to become extremely malnourished again. My body had stopped absorbing anything it was consuming.Last month my surgeons decided it was time to discuss enteral feeding. Because of my stomach’s inability to digest anything at all, we had to bypass it and place a tube directly in my small intestines. Surgery went perfectly and recovery has been going as smooth as possible, but this has ultimately been the hardest surgery on me and my family, both physically and mentally.I have been extremely lucky to have my feeding pump and formula covered by insurance, but unfortunately as far as any further help goes our resources are limited. My fiancé has had to take many unpaid days off of work, and while we are lucky enough to even have that income, it is our only income. We know that money is hard for everyone right now, but anything donated will go directly to home medical supplies insurance doesn’t cover (gauze, fresh syringes, saline, medical tape/tube stabilization, tube pads), childcare needs/help with childcare, and transportation to appointments as we are maneuvering this new transition! Any kind of help, even just a share, would be so indescribably appreciated ❤️
